This term our topic is

Prehistoric Pets!

After a wonderful term exploring animals, minibeasts and growing, Reception are about to travel back in time for an exciting prehistoric adventure! When the children arrive at school, they will discover that our classroom has been transformed into a fascinating Dinosaur Den, filled with opportunities for exploration, imagination and discovery.

It won't take long for them to realise that this term is going to be packed with prehistoric excitement as they step into the world of dinosaurs and ancient creatures. Through listening carefully to a range of dinosaur stories and sharing their own ideas, the children will develop their communication and language skills while immersing themselves in imaginative role-play and storytelling adventures.

To launch our brand-new topic, Prehistoric Pets, the children will enjoy a variety of engaging fiction and non-fiction books, discovering fascinating facts about dinosaurs, fossils and life long ago. They will become dinosaur experts as they learn new vocabulary, ask questions and investigate what we can find out from evidence left behind millions of years ago.

Our budding palaeontologists will have the opportunity to search for fossils, investigate dinosaur bones and learn how fossils are formed. The children will also get creative by designing and building dinosaur swamps, constructing erupting volcanoes and creating their own prehistoric habitats. We are certain that their imaginations will run wild as they bring the prehistoric world to life!

To make our topic even more memorable, we will be holding a special Dinosaur WOW Day, where the children can enjoy a range of exciting dinosaur-themed activities and experiences. More information about this special day will be shared soon.

Throughout the term, the children will continue to develop the values they have already been exploring while demonstrating curiosity, perseverance and teamwork as they investigate the mysteries of the prehistoric world together.

Be sure to take a look at our Topic Web and Newsletter to find out more about the exciting learning ahead. We can't wait to begin our prehistoric adventure!
