Geography at Harbury

Our aim at Harbury is to inspire a curiosity in pupils about the world around them and their place in it. As pupils progress through the school, they will grow in understanding of the Earth’s key physical and human features.

Teaching will equip pupils with a knowledge of diverse places, people, resources and environments. Their developing knowledge about the world will provoke thought and questions and encourage children to discover answers through exploration and research.  We believe that by enabling children to understand geography and the complexity of our planet, they will develop a greater respect for the physical environment and the varied range of cultures and beliefs that make up our world.  The local Harbury Energy Initiative group (www.harburyenergy.co.uk/) continue to support the school with projects and education sessions that help teach our children about how to save energy and reduce carbon emissions.

At Harbury, we have also started using Lyfta (www.lyfta.com/about-us) as a way of connecting our school with stories of people all over the world.  This exciting platform aims to enable children to virtually visit every country and learn about different cultures, languages, jobs, roles and perspectives.
