Computing at Harbury

Pupils will become confident and responsible digital citizens. They will develop computational thinking and key skills to promote resilience when creating digital content.  Pupils will develop strategies to build healthy online relationships and engage positively with online technologies.

We use Project Evolve as a way of teaching Online Safety and follow Education for a Connected World  which is a framework to equip children and young people for digital life.

Alongside this, we promote online safety by using the LoudmouthTheatre group. We also have a close relationship with Southam Police and they have been into school to prepare workshops for families and also to speak to each class about online safety.

Every Monday our team of Digital Leaders meet at lunchtime. We use this time to train our leaders in online safety and using the technology effectively, so during computing lessons they can lead by example and assist their peers. We also complete termly challenges set by Purple Mash, a recent challenge being designing a new mashcot (mascot) for them.

Each Friday we have Code Club which is run by volunteers, this provides an opportunity for pupils in Year 5 and 6 to gain experiences of writing code for different purposes.
